Community hubs are about bringing services together and using public spaces to better serve Ontarians. The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing brought together government and non-government experts and leaders for a discussion on improving access to services and planning for community hubs through a series of forums between November 30th and December 18th, 2015. Community hub forums were held in Toronto, London, Barrie, Kingston, Sudbury and Thunder Bay.
The purpose of the minister’s forums was to help inform the government’s approach to moving forward on this recommendation and to solicit ideas on potential solutions. Specifically, the forums were intended to engage a range of experts and leaders from various sectors – municipal, non-profit, school boards, health, social services, community safety, and others – about how the province and its local/regional partners can better support the integrated and long-term planning of community-based services
